Watch The English Patient Movie with Full HD Format

Anthony Minghella wrote and directed this award-winning adaptation of Michael Ondaatje's novel about a doomed and tragic romance set against the backdrop of World War II. In a field hospital in Italy, Hana (Juliette Binoche), a nurse from Canada, is caring for a pilot who was horribly burned in a plane wreck; he has no identification and cannot remember his name, so he's known simply as "the English Patient," thanks to his accent. When the hospital is forced to evacuate, Hana determines en route that the patient shouldn't be moved far due to his fragile condition, so the two are left in a monastery to be picked up later. In time, Hana begins to piece together the patient's story from the shards of his memories; he's actually Count Laszlo Almasy (Ralph Fiennes), of Hungarian nobility and an explorer working with a group mapping uncharted territory in North Africa. An Englishman, Geoffrey Clifton (Colin Firth), soon joins Almasy's team; travelling with him is his lovely and spirited wife, Katherine (Kristin Scott Thomas). Katherine and Laszlo soon fall in love, which leads Laszlo to betray his friend, his country and all that is dear to him. Meanwhile, Hana and the Patient are joined by Kip (Naveen Andrews), a Sikh with a gift for defusing mines, and Caravaggio (Willem Dafoe), an intelligence agent who knows some of Laszlo's most shameful secrets. The English Patient won nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actress (Juliette Binoche). ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Review For The English Patient

With its fine acting, sumptuous visuals and levels of intrigue, The English Patient boasts the elements of something greater than a love story. Too bad it devotes them to something less than a great love story.
Mark Caro-Chicago Tribune

The triumph of the film lies not just in the force and range of the performances, but in Minghella's creation of an intimate epic: vast landscapes mingle with the minute details of desire, and the combination is transfixing.
Anthony Lane-New Yorker

Out of each of these uprooted characters are spun stories of love, loyalty and betrayal.
David Ansen-Newsweek

The cast is superb: Binoche, with her thin, seraphic smile; Scott Thomas, aware of the spell she casts but not flaunting it; Fiennes, especially, radiating sexy mystery, threat shrouded in hauteur. Doom and drive rarely have so much stately star quality.
Richard Corliss-TIME Magazine

A respectable, intelligent but less than stirring adaptation of an imposingly dense and layered novel.
Todd McCarthy-Variety

This is the real thing, and real things don't come along very often, so you'd better snap them up when they do.
Jeff Millar-Houston Chronicle

Films this good don't come along very often -- The English Patient is one to savour.
-Total Film

Overlong and stifling high-class desert war story that mixes a tearjerker romance with a beguiling mystery story.
Dennis Schwartz-Ozus' World Movie Reviews

The whole film is permeated with tenderness for its hurt characters, whom Minghella sees as just a small slice in the fellowship of people who love and suffer.
Sarah Kerr-Slate

Gorgeous looking and achingly romantic literary adaptation that showcases expert performances by Fiennes and Scott Thomas.
-Film4

The sand seems to drench the actors in deep golden light; the sky is a rich, muted blue, like a still and suspended sea.
Rob Gonsalves-eFilmCritic.com

Fiennes is solid, if occasionally a little remote, as the dashing man of action. But Kristin Scott Thomas is the film's revelation.
-TV Guide's Movie Guide

Among many achievements, John Seal's strikingly precise photography draws contrast, which is significant in the text, between sensual imagery of the adulterous affair between Fiennes and Scott Thomas and jarring images of desert wartime brutality.
Emanuel Levy-EmanuelLevy.Com

It's a sweeping romance with many good aspects, but not enough to justify the time you spend watching.
Robin Clifford-Reeling Reviews

Yes, it's beautifully shot, well-acted, and rich with history lessons. But how can we cheer for heroes who sell out their friends and nation for an extramarital affair?
Jeffrey Overstreet-Looking Closer

This is a very sad movie, indeed -- but one filled with cinematic artistry.
Betty Jo Tucker-ReelTalk Movie Reviews

As the sensitive Hana, Binoche delivers one of the most incandescent performances I've ever had the pleasure to watch.
